Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants • Action-packed dicefest!

Created by Kids Table Board Gaming

It's a perfect day for a picnic! The park fills with families, spreading their blankets, and setting out colourful plates loaded with delicious treats. But there has never been a picnic without uninvited guests ... ANTS!! In Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants, players are competing ant colonies trying to steal the best plates of food from the picnic blankets. In this 2-4 player, dice-rolling dexterity game, the dice are your ants. Roll them onto the picnic cards, trying to get the most ants onto the foods and plate colours you want. Different custom dice at your disposal represent your industrious Workers, speedy Scouts, and sturdy Soldiers. At the end of the day, the colony that has arranged their stolen plates to best satisfy the whims of the Queen will earn the most points and win the game!

Army Ants, I'm taking off my publisher hat and putting on my Science and Math teacher hat to talk to you about a campaign that we have recently backed. Sometimes you just fall in love with a company because they create products that speak to you. When I first came across Genius Games, I was blown away by their ability to publish games that are educational AND truly fun. That is a hard thing to do! Trust me, I'm always working on it. Genius has created some incredible games. But what has blown me away recently is their latest venture in publishing, Science Wide Open: Children's Books about Women in Science. What an incredible thing Genius Games is doing here. Focusing on women in Science History is so important. As they themselves say, they are "transforming the narrative surrounding girls and science". I have backed this project for myself as a parent and as a teacher. We think that you should too!

Player Dice and How You Can Make a Difference

Here is something else we need your help with. There will be 24 dice, of four different colours in the game. We are having a hard time narrowing the colour choices down. We are aware of red-green colour blindness, so we've shown you what the same colours will look like to someone who has red-green colour blindness. Here are the options:

Please help us choose colours by picking 1 die from each of the four columns on the left. Post your choices in the comments of the update. Here are my picks: Goldenrod, Pond, Orchid, and Grass.

P.S. Something really weird happened while I was putting together this update. Two text graphics showed up and I can't get the following one out of the update. It's a Kickstarter glitch. I have contacted them, but of course, they only work during the week. I'll have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday to find out what happened. I was going to hold off on the update, but I want to keep in touch with you and let you know what is happening every step of the way. So, there you are.

What? We're Funded? Just Like That?
over 7 years ago – Sat, Oct 22, 2016 at 05:16:55 PM

Hello my Army of Ants,

We'll it wasn't "just like that" because you had to do a lot of hard work to make this happen. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! Josh, Scott, and I are over the moon!

Now on to Our Stretch Goals

Don't forget to Like the Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants on Facebook to get the beautiful backers only Second Chance Round Card. Once we get to 350 Facebook Likes, we'll include it in your game.

Also, by becoming a @KidsTableBG follower on Twitter, you are getting us one follower closer to the stunning Blue Bird Round card, also for backers of Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants, only.

So, Here's What's Happening ...

Once we reach $22,500CAD, you'll be getting yourselves gorgeous Round Cards AND the matching punch board tokens. Trust me, you need these tokens!

Speaking of Round Cards ...

You might have noticed the beautiful Blue Bird Round Card and the Second Chance Round Card both have very different art than the existing Round Cards.

We are very confident that we'll reach that first Stretch goal... when we do reach it, that means that the Round cards in many cases don't need to be used as gameplay components any more, since we get those awesome tokens. So, Josh has been working hard on creating beautiful art for the Round cards to replace the functional versions in the prototype. Like this sketch on the right:

But Remember ...

We can't reach these stretch goals without you sharing the campaign with your friends. Find one person that you think will love Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants, and give them this link: http://kck.st/2dgKUoo.
