Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants • Action-packed dicefest!

Created by Kids Table Board Gaming

It's a perfect day for a picnic! The park fills with families, spreading their blankets, and setting out colourful plates loaded with delicious treats. But there has never been a picnic without uninvited guests ... ANTS!! In Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants, players are competing ant colonies trying to steal the best plates of food from the picnic blankets. In this 2-4 player, dice-rolling dexterity game, the dice are your ants. Roll them onto the picnic cards, trying to get the most ants onto the foods and plate colours you want. Different custom dice at your disposal represent your industrious Workers, speedy Scouts, and sturdy Soldiers. At the end of the day, the colony that has arranged their stolen plates to best satisfy the whims of the Queen will earn the most points and win the game!

Great Engagement and We're a Week Away
over 7 years ago – Thu, Oct 20, 2016 at 12:22:37 AM

Hello to my Army of Ants!

To all of our new backers thank you so much for trusting in us to bring you a fantastic, engaging game.

This update sees us over 90% funded, and over 450 backers! You know what is incredible about this? We already have more backers than our Foodfighers campaign, and we still have over a week left. That, if you ask me, is quite a success!!

I saw these two guys hanging out on my games shelf today and wanted to send you a photo of them.

They look so good together, don't they?

So Much Engagement on the Dice Colours!

Thank you all so much for giving us your feedback on the colour of dice you would like to see in the game. We are trying to make this game as accessible as possible, so colour deficiencies is a real focus for us. If you haven't let us know which dice you'd like to see in the game, you can give us your two cents here.

As you know, we like to tell you what we're backing. We do this so that you can gain a little insight into who we are, and also, to support the community. Today's focus is on Unreal Estate by designer Jason Slingerland and published by The Grand Gamer's Guild, a truly upstanding company that creates card and board games with awesome stories and lasting memories for the people who play them.

Unreal Estate is a 2-4 player drafting and set collection game. We played it at Grand Con just a few weeks ago and LOVED it! It boasts some stunning artwork created by the talented artist, Corinne Roberts. Stop by the campaign page and have a look. You'll be glad you did!

We're Really Rollin'
over 7 years ago – Mon, Oct 10, 2016 at 09:39:31 PM

Hello my Army of Ants!

We are 75% funded!!!!! Of course, we couldn't do it without you wonderful people! We're on target to fund early and breeze through those stretch goals. Let's make it happen.

In Problem Picnic News

Sean Jacquemain, of The Daily Worker Placement is writing up his preview for Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants as we speak. He and his talented crew are incredible writers. But check out these beautiful component pics he snapped as he was playing. What a talented guy, am I right!?

Kicking Into High Gear

There was a question this past weekend from @Kalayna in the comments section on the campaign page. She wanted to know if there is any way of kicking the campaign up a notch (totally paraphrasing here). Of course there is!!! Those pictures up above are on Board Game Geek as we speak. Let's get them on the front page! To do that, click each of the two photos. Then thumb, thumb, thumb both pictures.

What's That You Say? You Don't Have a BGG Profile?

Did you know that you can sign up to BGG for free? You won't get any annoying emails from them, and you will be doing yourself and this campaign a HUGE service. Here is the link that will take you to creating your own profile. It only takes a couple of seconds. Once you do, come back to this update and click on the photos above to thumb them. Or alternately, search for Problem Picnic: Attack of the Ants while you are there.

It's T Time, and So Many New Backers
over 7 years ago – Fri, Oct 07, 2016 at 03:49:38 AM

Hello there my Army of Ants!

Wow! This is unbelievable! Welcome to all of our new backers over the last few days. We are 363 backers and over $14 000 strong. You know what that means, right!? We are going to fund way before the end of this campaign. And that means business!! We're excited to get those stretch goals going! We want to make it all the way to $32 500. Think of all of the amazing things that will be added to your boxes.

The only way we can make this happen is with the help of our backers. Backers like YOU.

Here's how you can do it: (Advanced Techniques Ahead)

Blanket Shares and Tweets are amazing, and we love them; keep 'em up! But we have discovered that hands-down, guaranteed, far and away the absolute best and most effective method for sharing is when you message specific friends that you think would love this game. Something like "Hey Steve, I backed this game Problem Picnic and I think your family would love it! Check it out: http://kck.st/2d6CDBm" Honestly it really gets much better results. So if you can think of a handful of particular super awesome people that would probably really enjoy our super awesome game, drop them a Facebook message or an email! It really works, it gets your friends a great game, and it gets us all closer to bringing these ants to picnic tables everywhere! Try it!

T Time

Have you noticed our Add Ons section yet? One of our featured add ons is this incredible Problem Picnic T designed by none other than Josh Cappel.

The T is limited to this campaign and will not be for sale after. So if you are a fan of Problem Picnic, or of Josh's art work, or both, you really should get it. I know that I can't wait to sport mine at every game convention coming up this summer.

That's all for now Ants!

Until next time, go get that food!

Half Way There and a Welcome to Our New Backers
over 7 years ago – Sat, Oct 01, 2016 at 02:30:13 PM

Hello to my Army of Ants!

I have decided that this is what I am going to call you for the time being. If you have another suggestion, please do put it in the comments section on the main page.

A HUGE welcome to all of our new backers! We're so excited to have you along for this incredible ride!!

Great News!

We are 266 backers and $10 193 strong. Yup, you read that right!! We're over half way to funding, and still 25 days to go. We couldn't do this without you though, so pat yourselves on the back for making this happen, people!!

Think of what we are going to be able to achieve once we hit the funded mark. Those stretch goals are so juicy! Here's a carrot for you:

The round cards are beautiful the way they are and work very well. But don't you want to see each power turned into a punch board cut out? If you want to see those stretch goals fly by, you've got to share!

The Deluxe Box

We've been talking to many of you over the last few days and I can feel the excitement. One of the questions we have had the most from you has been about what is inside the DELUXE box. There is so much awesome stuff I just cannot contain my own excitement about it!!

The Deluxe edition comes with a wide assortment of advancements:

  • The box top will have shiny gold foil logos.
  • The box will be personally signed by both the amazing Scott Almes and Josh Cappel.
  • There will be an exclusive Problem Picnic art print signed by Josh Cappel included in each Deluxe edition.
  • Upgraded cards! The Picnic, Round, Scoring, Puddle, and Anthill cards will get a pp lamination and linen finish for luxurious feel.
  • The Reward and Tie tokens will have a shiny gold foil finish.
  • The Puddle card will have a metallic blue foil finish.

Can you imagine that we packed so much into that box?

We like to include a section on what we are backing in some of our updates. It gives you a bit of insight into who we are and what we like in terms of games. Here's today's game:

Sagrada is a smooth and beautiful family-friendly dice puzzler from designers Daryl Andrews & Adrian Adamescu, and our friends at Floodgate Games. In it, you draft translucent dice and use them to craft beautiful stained-glass window patterns to meet requirements that change from game to game. Their quickly-funded campaign has blown the doors off of 8 Stretch Goals as we write this, and is poised to hit several more before it wraps up in about a week. If this sounds like your sort of game, visit their campaign and join us as backers! http://kck.st/2cyxaW0

Until next time, go get that food!!
